Bill Introduced to Reduce Pollution from New Hampshire Power Plants

State Representative Jeb Bradley is the prime sponsor for legislation implementing New Hampshire's Clean Power Strategy. Under the Strategy, the state's three fossil-fuel power plants will have a five-year window to reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide by 75%; nitrogen oxides by 70%; mercury by 75%; and carbon dioxide by 7% below 1990 levels.


The bill establishes caps for the emissions listed above; permits banking and trading of emissions reductions to achieve compliance with the caps; and does not require compliance of a plant that installs qualifying repowering technology or an eligible replacement unit.
