| NCEL participant California Assemblywoman Fran Pavley introduced AB 1058, which passed the Assembly January 30, 2002. AB 1058 would make California the first state to regulate carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles. This bill would require the state to develop and adopt, by January 1, 2004, regulations that achieve the maximum feasible reduction of carbon dioxide emitted by passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks. The bill is currently in the Senate.
